Chuck Farrell, (352) 516-0192, seems to fit the bill. Many TOTV members have used and recommend him. I used him after receiving an aortic-busting quote from a well-known large company with a big investment in new homes installations gave me an estimate equivalent to the cost of a newborn - conveniently finding wrong and out of warranty my original Trane it installed in 2005. Chuck installed a new system on top of my existing gas heat system for half the cost of the large company that didn't offer the AC only (my natural gas Trane in the column tower works fine), and comes with full 10-year warranty. Many of these companies around The Villages find AC repair is the full-employment act. In this case, I asked the original installation company for a second opinion (minimum $85..more if you elect to authorize use of a special diagnostic device to pressure test coil for leaks). When the opinion-giver tech arrived, within minutes a same-company salesman also drove up to work up estimates for the fiddle, Chevrolet and Mercedes-cost levels of new systems it installs. And, this heretofore Trane company no longer sells Trane..after installing thousands in TV.
Just remember, a new compressor will cost you at least $500 if any warranty remains (labor, refrigerant, etc) and does not extend the system warranty one whit. I've learned on air systems around here, get the optional accessory of a tube of KY jelly. You may need it.

I bought the 10 year warranty in 05 for a Trane and glad I did. It's a piece of junk. Got one more year. Everything has been replaced at least once. Always buy the extended warranty when you put in new.

Another Chuck Farrell fan here. Recently, my York AC unit developed a leak and it turned out to be a cracked drain pan. A local company in Bellview quoted me $1086 to fix, stating it would take two men and the system would have to be drained..blah blah blah. I questioned them on the phone 3 times, attempting to get a written estimate showing labor, parts etc. Not only wouldn't they oblige me, they refused to tell me how much the part was.
I ordered the drain pan on-line from York for $69 plus $12 shipping. I had some difficulty putting the new pan in place (the old one came out easy enough) so I called Chuck. He sent a man the next morning and $50 bucks later and a nice chat with the serviceman and I was back in service. Total savings of around $950.00 hard earned dollars. I'll use no one but Mr. Farrell from here on. Good Luck!

My A/C went out years ago and I called Chuck. Turned out it was only a 3 amp fuse. He replaced it showed me where it goes and left another fuse for me. Only cost me a service call.

My outside unit makes a lot of noise, I need to call him again.
