Default Moving Vans

We are getting estimates on 3 moving Vans. Mayflower, North American, and Allied.
Can anyone tell me of their experience, positive or negative with any of these moving companies?
Thanks in advance.

Default Suggestion

We used Bekins when we moved from Amarillo to TV. We could not have asked for a better experience. Everything arrived in pristine condition and on time. Some from other areas have not been so fortunate with Bekins Movers.

That being said, one thing to keep in mind is that the operators of national chains are franchisees and, as such, not all are operated with the same quality. I would suggest that you try to get some local input with your town/area for those you are considering using for your move.

Good luck and welcome.

Also try Atlas. We had them in October and we had no problems. The only things that broke were items we packed ourselves and probably didn't do so adequately. They also were available for delivery earlier than they said they would be. Actually, I think that the bottom line on just how good any of the movers are is dependent on the crew that actually winds up doing the moving.

Default Movers

We are going through The Villages Relocation. We used them for the sale of our house and ended up with an awesome realtor! The Villages gave me a name for three moving companies. When I called the companies they said I would get a discount and two of them mentioned free insurance.

We used United, which I know is not on your list, however they did lose some boxes and due to the fact that our belongings went into storage for two months while our home was being built there was no way we realized it at the time. We had purchased the insurance but they denied our claim, so our only recourse was to call American Express and submit a claim through them. I was able to recoup my entire loss with American Express.

Lesson here is if you have an American Express card, use that when paying for your move just in case there are any problems down the road. Good luck!

Default Moving Experience-Awesome!

We moved to TV in late October after planning for a year. We called TV Relo Department and took their recommended 3 movers and gave each a call. One never responded, one came to give us a quote but we didn't get the best feeling. The third one was Allied Van Lines through Atlantic Relocation. Our experience moving from near Chicago using them was absolutely flawless! First class all the way. We packed some on our own, let them pack the rest. By doing that we came in under their estimate. They delivered as promised and even volunteered for extra duty the day they unloaded the truck. They did not leave until we were 100% satisfied. The driver, Anthony, was very professional in checking off each of our 337 stickered items! We were very pleased, especially after reading horror stories galore. Best advice---Do your homework as you've started to on this website. Then go with the company that "feels right". Put it on your credit card for a backup in case things go haywire. Then get to TV---you'll never regret it!

We just did this 6 weeks ago and I believe there are two issues here...
* The local agent for the various firms, Mayflower, Bekins etc. They come out to estimate the weight of your belongings and provide the cost estimate - including the packing you want them to do. That determines how much you will pay.
* The actual team that does the work of packing, loading, moving and unloading. This facet is more important but is difficult to get such a referral.

We used Atlas and were extremely lucky to have a perfect move. Nothing lost, broken or late. That result was due to the particular team Atlas assigned to our move. If we ever have to move again, I will use only that team - no matter who they are working for (pardon the grammar). I will pass that team's name on to anyone who contacts me via PM.
