Default Interior Decorator

We just purchased a pre-owned home. We are looking for an interior decorator who can assist us with wall colors, placement of accessory furniture we are bring with us to TV, and purchase of new furniture. Any recommendations?

I think that Jennifer at Southern Lifestyles has terrific style and wonderful ideas.

I suggest you grab a couple of magazines such as Coastal Living or any other themed design magazine you like and tear out the pages of the rooms that you just love. Than decide on the three colors you just love. That will help your design person very much. Good luck. Hope you love your new home!

[QUOTE=graciegirl;198688]I would love to help you for free because I enjoy that type of thing so much and our own home is recently done...DONE..sigh...no more accessories. lol. (We are going north the end of this month so I can't help you much but I think that Jennifer at Southern Lifestyles has terrific style and wonderful ideas.

Gracie, my friend,

How appropriate that you worked with Jennifer. She is a darling - totally helpful and follows up quickly. She arranged for a loaner couch for Jim so he doesn't have to sit on the floor before the movers get there.

Kate (less than 2 weeks)

We're very happy with Ruth Dyer, who is mentioned above. She is impartial and does not benefit from sales, so is quite unbiased with her recommendations. She really listens to you and, we felt that she made excellent suggestions and we love the results. We're near the finish line. Window treatments are going in this week, then accessorization. Great Job, Ruth!

This mornings column in The Daily Sun was really interesting. It was about "true" Florida style which Ruth Dyer says has a lot of dark wood in it.

We are hoping to move down year round and own a lot of dark wood up north.
It is great to hear that we can bring it, use it, and make it Florida. We have our current home decorated with a lot of white furniture which too, is very pretty, but we have nice stuff up north, and stuff I like...so

I thought that her article this morning was REALLY helpful..

(Tony? Why don't we have a decorating forum.)

Default Gracie girl is right!...Get your home deco magazine out!

We both have the same taste in decorating and after living in the Furniture capital of the nation (NC) got a lot of great ideas on decorating....Every time we move, we sell house furnished because every home we bought was a different style, A-frame, Tudor and Traditional and now Spanish....We were also able to get GREAT buys because a lot of employees in these furniture plants passed on their discounts to us...Yea!...Another reason why we were able to sell furnished...I understand that many of us have memories associated with our furnishings, so of course, keep those treasures...Just get out those magazines (Southern Living is one of my favorites) that give you "warm-fuzzies" and use as a guide...This will be so much fun.....Have a great time and welcome CTgolfer to our Happy Place!

Default My niece is a fabulous interior designer

She works in CT and FL...she helped me choose my pre-owned home. She is spectacular with color and stays with a project through completion, using as much as your own furniture and accessories as you would like. When in FL she
is usually working in Boca Raton and Ft.Lauderdale. She is due to visit me for
several weeks in the fall. Her business is called, Staging Right, and she only works with referrals. Christea has exquisite taste and is eclectic...and, watches the painters, etc. as the job unfolds. She likes to have the job all done relatively quickly and her price point attempts to match the budge the client
has. She often scouts resale and consignment shops for furniture, paintings and
accessories. I would be glad to give her your email if you send it to me and put her in touch with you. She is highly recommended and absolutely fabulous. Of course I'd like to think she takes after her auntie gurl.... email me if you want her phone or addy. She always visits me and would love to help I'm sure.
She does the design YOU want and dream of having, and her charge is modest
compared to AIA designers. She is just back from a huge job in Chicago, and I imagine would love to pop back and stay with me while doing your home. When we were choosing my house and looking at many pre-owned, she said to me, "Oh my, they could use me here." She's right, and she is wonderful and easy to work with. She has been in the business formally for fifteen years after
being 'found' by a local newspaper in CT. She is often brought in to stage a house for sale, most ofhers sell within a week! She is so talented, and easy.

The furniture in my house is dark...a mixture of traditional/contemporary with accents tropics in turquoise and reds. Quite eclectic but I like it. It is a work in progress!
