We recently purchased a home in The Villages with a 2 car plus golf cart garage. We are wanting to have the floor painted. What do you suggest for flooring and who is the best contractor for the job?
We would appreciate any suggestions, Thanks, Theresa and Gregg |

It's actually not a bad DIY. Used an epoxy kit from Sherwin Williams.

We close on our house soon and will be having Excalibur epoxy the garage floor and paint the floor in the lanai. We have seen Sam's work and he comes with recommendations.

If you're going to have it done, Amy Newsome is the best.

I've seen the results my buddy had using The Sherwin Williams coating on several of his garages. Turned out beautiful - looked like a terrazzo floor. Yes, you can do it yourself at a fraction of the cost of contractor. I've done it myself on a couple garages I've had over the years and it looked like a DIY. The second one turned out better than the first. I knew I had to do this BEFORE we moved in, otherwise the garage "stuff" will have to be moved out for several days. Not an option.
The key is the floor preparation, two coats, even uniform spreading of the "sprinkles, and painting each coat the same day. That is important because a change in humidity with cause a slight change in the color. After several estimates & recommendations, we had Miller's Home Services, Tim (The Tool Man) Miller paint our 800 sq ft garage. 352-217-0561. The ink was still wet on our closing documents when Tim met us at our new house. He uses the Sherwin Williams epoxy coating (your choice of colors). It is a 3 day to process. The first day is the prep & cleaning (he also installed our attic pull down stairs that day too), second day is painting the base color, third day is the clear coat and adding a non skid additive. After a little more than a day you can walk on it. Floor cost was a little over $1 a square foot, attic pull down ladder was about $200-$300 depending if you get the wood or aluminum steps. I had to live with the results for years of my own work in my "man cave" and knew I wanted it done right this time. I am very pleased with the results. My 2¢ and experience.

I had a professional village painter use the Sherwin Williams brand. I am not able to post because of moderator says he does have 10 recommends. Send me a private message and I will send number. I am very happy.
