Default Garage Door Spring Replacement

Does anyone have a recent experience with a garage door repair company?

One of my torsion springs broke and I need it replaced, without a lot of aggravation and BS, like you get from most Overhead Door companies.

Ryan O'Cull is "away for the holidays", with no estimate of his return date.

I also have a call into Scott's Garage Doors, but haven't heard back from him and I want a backup, in case he doesn't call.

Thank you

FYI, I had both springs replaced last year by Ryan O'Cull, and the cost was $350. Typically, you replace both springs, not just one. Also, it was interesting that the builder had installed two different length springs, but the springs that Ryan installed were both the same length. The builder's installation seemed very strange to me.

Ryan sends/refers work to Scott's Garage Door Service when he can't handle or does not do a particular type of garage door repair. I have used Scott's twice and both times a very positive experience.

Thank you.

Scott called me this morning. Seems like a good guy. He should be here around noon.

I used OH Door of Ocala with no problem. Arrived same day repaired in less than an hour. This was for a spring replacement.

Scott just left and replaced my springs. Good guy. Quality work. Fair price.

I talked to Ryan's wife during bowling 10 days ago. Ryan is NOT out of the garage door business. Hard to believe Scott would say that.

I deleted that part of the my post ... I don't want to cause any trouble.

I did call Ryan and his out going message says: "no estimate on when he'll be back".

I use Scott’s Garage door. He will fix what is broken and not upsell you on anything. He replaced my springs a few years ago. A year ago replaced belt on my opener. Also recently replaced my opener that had been spiked by a lightening strike. I highly recommend .

Yes, Scott's Garage Door is very fair on pricing. I was in need of a new opener. I called Romac and for the same Chamberlin system they wanted $900 installed. Scott saved me $400 compared to Romac.

I had 4 spring double garage door very heavy due to siding over clap board door. no way I was going to replace all those springs when one broke. It’s’ the wind tension that balances the door. Naturally if one spring has more tension it going to go first. Reason both are replaced so they don’t get call back when old broken spring breaks has nothing to do with cycles of news spring. They break on cycle time frame. Naturally old springs break before newer springs it all things are same.

He installed a couple springs for me in my first home in The Villages. That was the price. He arrived within an hour and finished the job fast. A year later, in a different home now, another spring broke. My garage door opener company wanted $450. I told them no, I’d get Ryan to do it. So they “made a call” and did it for $350. That extra hundred was just gravy for the company. They were still making a good profit.
