Default Front door screen door

We had a front door installed when we first moved in but I am not happy with it. It is hard to open and seems flimsy. I think we got it from Home Depot. Any suggestions for where to purchase a door and who to install it?

We purchased our screen/storm door at Lowe's and used one of their recommended contractors to complete the installation. Here's a link to their website with a video demonstration Shop LARSON 36"W Cranberry Tradewinds FV Retractable Screen Storm Door at Lowes.com It is easy to use, sturdy and safe. We couldn't be happier. If you need to see the actual door in use after watching the video on Lowe's website send me a pm and I will contact you to set-up a time for you to come over and see the door in place.

We used a local company called "Hid-N-Screen" who provided the retractable screen door and they did a great job. Phone: 352-409-1174

Thanks Julie and SalPal. Grieves me to have to replace something of poor quality. Perhaps others can take note and make a better choice.

I too got mine at Lowes and had it installed. After almost a year the top corner of the screen folded down a tad and I thought it was a little loose...my little yorkie ran into it a few times, so I called the company that Lowes had install it and they came and tightened the screen....good as new!

I went with a storm door from Lowe's. I installed it myself but if I did it again I would have someone else installed it. I was used to buying right/left doors with the holes predrilled. This one came with no holes and I had to do the holes myself. It was a chore since I got rid of most of my tools. But it is up and has been great for the past 10 years!

Default Screen Door

Try Michele's Hideaway Screens. Retractable. Nice quality and good people to deal with.

We went with Michele's Hideaway Screens and couldn't be happier. Nice thing about their screens is they are custom made for your home and you can get them with a privacy screen. (You can see out but someone at your front door can't see in) Very nice feature. Quality through and though. You can also get a little door latch which will give you a sense of security. I really don't work for them...I just love their product.

The one that is of poor quality was from Home Depot. I just purchased from Lowe's. They require that the manufacturer do the installation. They said they sell a ton of them. Was much sturdier than our old one. Thanks for your responses.

Hideaway screens are convenient but provide no security. If you want security, you will need to install a secure screen door. I have one installed on my front door that has a metal mesh frame across the screen material. You hardly notice it is there but it is strong enough to prevent someone from crashing through the door. The door also has a dead bolt type locking mechanism. There are a lot of contractors and sales people roaming TV neighborhoods.

As Batman, I guess you have to worry about that.
