Default Driveway brick pavers: clean and seal

Any recommendations on who you have used to clean and seal brick driveway pavers? We purchased a pre-owned home in July and don't know who installed the pavers.

CT.... Old World Pavers installed our pavers; when it was time to re-seal, we called them and they were not doing sealing and referred us to Pristine. They quoted us about $700-800 to clean and seal which seemed ridiculous. By the way, Old World now says they are doing sealing again, but, I got an inkling their price will be $500+.

Based on recommendations on this site and Va Trace website, we hired Desmond Harris, Covenant Janitorial, to seal our pavers. He charged $350 (we have a little over 900sq ft). He cleans them, replaces any that are cracked, and puts 2 coats of sealer on it, using a roller applicator. He did a nice job. Ph # 352-308-7457

Is it because they are on the driveway that they need sealing?

I have a walkway (about 70 ft) here in MA that is 10 years old and the individual pavers look as good as the day I put them in. (they weren't sealed then either because I put them in and I had never heard of sealing them).

What does sealing prevent? Is it a discoloration thing?

Russ.... as I understand it (and I'm certainly no expert)... re-sealing is optional and done mostly for appearance, i.e. it's not functionally required.

I have been told it helps prevent mold.

Does the sealer make the pavers slippery when wet?

Ours were not slippery at all after having been re-sealed.

But, I remember walking on someone's pavers in my crocs and sliding quite dangerously. They had just re-sealed and I believe said they did it themselves.

Pristine Pavers is a buddy of Old World Pavers. Their price is absurdly high. Try Covenant Janitorial, of Leesburg - (352) 308-7457.

Default pavers

Old World Pavers are a joke! They have the worst customer service! Yes the owner of Pristine Pavers is the son of the owner of old world. He cleans up the father's mistakes! TERRIBLE BUSINESS! Be careful they have other window and lanai franchises
