Default Ceiling repair

I am the second owner of a CYV which is 8 years old. It has volume ceilings (high ceilings) in the master bedroom. A crack has developed from the corner of the room up a seam to the center of the ceiling. Has anyone had this problem? Any suggestions as to a contractor to make the repair. Thanks for your help!

To repair the crack, I highly recommend Lori, owner of A Touch of Drywall. She repaired a grapefruit size hole in my drywall and you can't even tell it was repaired. When I called to hire her, she was repairing a large crack in a ceiling. Her specialty is drywall repair. Call her at 352-636-6859. Her rates are very reasonable and I know you won't be disappointed.

I wonder, it is unusual for a long crack to develop in a ceiling of an 8 year old building. Is this something quite common in Florida?

I wish I could help with this, n8xwb, but I don't have any names to share. I'm sure you'll get some great suggestions.

Using the recomendation above we just had "A Touch of Drywall" repair about 25 feet of defective ceiling seams. Lori, the owner does all the work herself. Prompt, reasonable and very professionally done. Plus she is a pleasant person to deal with. She matched the existing knock down plaster patterns perfectly. If you have a drywall repair, we think she's the one to call.
Phone her at 352-636-6859.

A post above asked why these cracks appear. Lori explained and demonstrated. The orginal installers chinzed during installation and only put in 2/3 the proper number or drywall anchors, so over 10 years the ceiling sheets of drywall begin to sag and shift at the joints from weight and temperature changes. To repair, she strips away all old morter and tape, cleans out the joint, and screws in additional anchors every six inches to stablize the plasterboard. When she screwed in the anchors you could actually see the drywall snug up against the rafters. After stablizing the joint she reapplies the spackling, tape and finishing materials.

We've just had Lori repair a patch left by electrician after a ceiling fixture was moved. You can not see this repair in broad daylight! Only at certain angles and at night with lighting will a slight image be seen.
A real artist IMHO. No need to paint.
