Default Car Window Tinting

Can anyone recommend a company for window tinting on your car? I came from Ohio where we never got much sunshine, only "Greyshine!"

What is the law about tinting in Florida on the driver's & passenger windows?

No idea about the law, but so many cars have the windows tinted so dark that you cannot see the driver. You have no idea of their intentions or if they saw you. I have no intention to tint my windows. my wife has hers tinted, and I hate driving the car, because I know that the other drivers cannot see me. Just my humble opinion.

Default Car Window Tinting

I agree with VT about being seen:

Here are the regulations:

"The percent of visible light allowed through your car windows is called VLT: Visible Light Transmission. The percentage of light allowed through your film and glass in Florida is very specific and different for sedan cars and SUV cars or vans.

Tint darkness for sedans:
Windshield: Non-reflective tint is allowed above the manufacturer's AS-1 line.
Front Side windows: Must allow more than 28% of light in.
Back Side windows: Must allow more than 15% of light in.
Rear Window: Must allow more than 15% of light in.
Tint darkness for SUV and vans:
Windshield: Non-reflective tint is allowed above the manufacturer's AS-1 line.
Front Side windows: Must allow more than 28% of light in.
Back Side windows: Any darkness can be applied 6 inches from the top of the window.
Rear Window: Any darkness can be applied 6 inches from the top of the window.
Window tint reflection in Florida
Window tint can reflect incoming light and reduce glare and heat. Florida window tint law permits a certain window reflection when using a tint so make sure you pay attention to this as well.

Tint reflection for sedans:
Front Side windows: Must not be more than 25% reflective.
Back Side windows: Must not be more than 35% reflective.
Tint reflection for SUV and vans:
Front Side windows: Must not be more than 25% reflective.
Back Side windows: Must not be more than 35% reflective."

There is a law/regulation in FL about how dark the windows can be. It is something less than the factory tinting.

That being said the law/regualtion is routinely ignored and obviously not enforced.

Reputable tinters will not use the darker than allowed tint.

This is great news, I just want it to be enough to knock the sun down a bit. I let my kids tint my Ford and it was like driving in a tunnel and not safe at all. I removed it quickly. They were not pleased. We lived. I was pleased.
Thanks dbussone.

Thanks dbussone.
Nucky -- where did you have yours removed? I purchased my car from a gal in California and the windows are WAY too dark. So dark, in fact, that at night when I turn left I open my driver's window to see the road. I want my tint removed ASAP.

Thanks in advance.

The Nuckster Garage. A blow dryer, fresh razor blades, hot water and patience. I should have never let them take the F150 to have it done. I think they think I wanted to be a Rapper on MTV. I would have gone for the 25% tinted window. There is not much of a chance that I would get pulled over as I make it my business to driver like a human but if I did I want the officer to be able to see me so no mistakes occur and other people in traffic depend on seeing which way I'm looking. Dark tints are cool looking but not a winner!
