I've suspected it for some time, and I guess I was in denial. I finally looked it up online and discovered that my beloved Premium Saltines crackers have indeed been changed, and in a bad way.

It isn't just the lack of salt, not just the texture, but the old buttery flavor is gone. Turns out they quietly changed the recipe some time ago. Online complaints are everywhere. So sad. :ohdear:

I know, I know. I have no life.

Of course you have a life. LOL. I recently bought a fresh box too and they were nasty and went in the trash. I hate feeding the garbage can.

I love their oyster crackers. What is corporate America thinking when they mess with our favorite recipes? I just went to McDonald's to get my usual Swiss/mushrooms Angus burger & found out they stopped selling them last week! The girl said they were just going to be adding the toppings to the Quarter Pounder. She said customers were really complaining. I HATE CHANGE! :boxing2:

And I don't eat Campbell's tomato soup any more since they tarted it up with high fructose corn syrup.

Oh I remember them too. I hadn't thought of them for years. I wonder how many good old products have quietly gone by the wayside without even being noticed? Out with a whimper...

Gracie-I agree Noodles Ramanoff just sort of went away. I loved them and some nights that was all I had for dinner with some bread. Now all I can seem to find are butter and garlic which are okay but not the same at all.

Consumers are asking for less or no high fructose corn syrup, lower sodium foods, as well as no trans fats. Better to cook or bake from scratch if one can as nothing tastes right anymore.........even the Entemann's or Friehoffer bakery coffee cakes are horrible now since they took out the trans fats......my husband keeps sneaking them in the shopping cart but they are gooey tasting and just not the way they used to be. Every now and then, I will sample a piece of his.......and spit it out.....as it's like mush in the mouth. Hard to explain.

I realize you cannot bake your own saltine crackers..........so try oysterettes for soup. I bought the same yucky salt free saltine crackers this past winter.........
Know exactly what you all mean....

Also, be aware that "flavor enhansors" or "natural flavor" on label isn't necessarily a good thing.........that's how they sneak in the bad ingredients. I'm still checking out Snappel Ice Tea.......which always said "natural flavoring" and I'm pretty sure it says sugar.........but have heard that it's high fructose corn syrup. Easier to make your own plain iced tea and let everyone put their own lemon or sugar or NOT into it.

I've also read that people , mostly younger folks, who drink a lot of GREEN TEA, thinking of it as a sort of health food, are suffering strange leg pains. So, even foods perceived as healthy can sometimes have strange side effects..........

My husband just said to tell you to try KEEBLER CLUB CRACKERS.
They are still buttery and good...........we get them for cheese.

But do miss the old type of saltine crackers........
