Has anyone read the Mitch Rapp series by Vince flynn. If you liked the TV series 24 you will enjoy these books. Read them in order. I couldn't put them down. Amazon has the order wrong, go to vince flyinn's web site and you will get the right order. Enjoy!

I've read them all. I gave one to my son and within a few months he had read them all too. Mitch Rapp is a pretty violent guy, and he tends to work way outside the law, but the books are real page turners if you like thrillers. And I do.

I am on the last one of the series. I read that Vince Flynn is writing another one about Mitch Rapp but he is ill from chemo and does not expect it to be out until next spring.
Flynn also has one out called American Assassin. It is really a prequel. It is the story of how Mitch Rapp was recruited and got his start.

Yes, The American Assassin is a prequel to the series and I have also read it. I didn't hear that Vince Flynn was ill. I'm sorry to hear that! I hope that he has a complete and speedy recovery.

We're big Vince Flynn fans too....am reading Amer Assassin now. I've read the books in a hap hazzard way....which ever one was available in the library....and I didn't have any problem keeping things straight. He's such a good author that it's very easy to get in the groove. The Sun had an article about the delay in his latest book...he intended it to be out before Christmas...but now has put his cancer treatment at the top of the priority list.

We are big fans of Mitch Rapp. Its somewhat surprising that some books were written 14 years ago and are so relevant today.

FLYNN, VINCE
Mitch Rapp series
Book 1 Transfer of power
Book 2 The third option
Book 3 Separation of power
Book 4 Executive power
Book 5 Memorial Day
Book 6 Consent to kill
Book 7 Act of treason
Book 8 Protect and defend
Book 9 Extreme measures
Book 10 Pursuit of honor
Prequel American Assassin (this book is new and was just recently released but it tells how Mitch Rapp was recruited and become the CIA agent in the series)
I ordered the books from the Villages library (Belvedere station) via the online system. I ordered them one at a time so I would get them in order. Although they can be read out of sequence, there are always references to the earlier books that will leave you wondering if you read them out of order. Especially in the later books.

I have been a long time fan/reader of Vince Flynn. He is a great writer and his Mitch Rapp character keeps you coming back as a reader. Unfortunately, Vince is battling a very serious illness which is effecting his ability to write. Pray for his recovery, and return to what he does best. Writing great stories!

Kill shot is available now. One of the few authors I buy instead of wainting to get from the library. Ordering from Amazon now.

Flynn has stage 3 cancer of some sort.
His books are spellbinding and real page turners.

He was on IMUS the other morning and is doing well. The book "Kill Shoot" is out know. Great reading all his books. Will pick this up the next time I'm in the store.

American Assassin is where Mitch Rapp starts his career. It sounds like Kill Shoot is the second. These are both prequels to the entire Mitch Rapp series that I chronolized in an earlier post in this thread.
Throughout the series Flynn does refer back at times to characters in an earlier novel. After reading a couple out of sequence, I went back and started from the beginning. It helped make more sense.

Thx zcaveman, I'm still ot sure if I should read the prequels 1st?
Maybe it's obvious but just checking.

You do not need to read the prequels first but you can. They start from the beginning and answer how Mitch Rapp came to be in more detail.

I would read them first. As OpusX1 said they tell you how Rapp came to be. Also some of the characters in Assassin show up later in the regular series.
