Why were the windscreens removed from so many pickleball courts?

At least in the summer the extra wind might help dry the courts faster, but having no wind screens up now makes it far less fun and even dangerous.

Because of the bad weather.

I don't think so. I was told they are being replaced.

Now, you could ask why they took them down before the replacements were ready to be hung. No idea, but it's similar to the way road construction progresses.

One theory is they are being replaced under warranty before the District takes over (?) because they were already starting to disintegrate.

Saluki screens are already in terrible shape also.

Riverbend at 5 yrs had been in very poor shape for well over a year. Nets and between court netting is held together with tywraps and plastic fencing patches applied by the residents. Rec Dept has been unresponsive to the situation.

Not a great first impression for the Lifestyle people from Wellpoint now using those courts.

In the mean time, unopened courts at San Tropez and Eastport have new nets no one can use until they open.

How does it make it dangerous?

Cause they put up cheaper ones and cut vent holes. Wind and sun deteriorated them. Heavy duty wind screen have vents sowed in and heavier material double sowed.

Up in my area they put up half height cheap wind screens. But where sometimes (cause who cares about far north) tour Bus stops got full wind screens. Imagine that.

Your compassion for fellow Villagers is commendable.

It's amazing that people think that zero money should be spent on any activity they don't participate in. By that logic, ALL swimming pools should be removed bc I don't swim.

Agreed about the conditions of the nets at Riverbend. The windscreens were replaced about 2 years ago after the a storm. The old ones were higher and sturdier. I personally hate all the courts with only a low fence and no windscreens between the pickleball and tennis courts.
