Have 3 house all needed washer and dryer within weeks. One pair from Lowes, (white)one from Costco, (granite) and last from Best Buy (Sapphire with 7”pedestal)

All 3 top of the line GE with steam wash, stackable if desired. Prices were with in $59 of each store, but Best Buy includes pedestal in package.

Lowes delivery in 21 ( white hard to find) days install extra. Costco delivery in 13 days install included.
Best Buy free delivery, install and take away, because we have geek squad. No issues with any store, install guy all very nice, arrived in the window, explaining use, cleaned up.

We've had troubles with Home Depot on appliances. We shopped Lowes and we're happy. There are 10% coupons you can find online most of the time. Important these days, we wanted something in stock and ready to go - not on a cargo ship from China that may or may not come in anytime soon. Wherever you go, I'd say availability is very important.

Another vote for Mike. Well actually I worked with his assistant Eric. I. have three homes in the area and he helped me with all of them. My oceanfront in Fort Myers needed everything and the lake house needed a washer and dryer as well as a dishwasher. I took out the appliances that came with my little place in The Villages since there was a scratch on the side of the fridge, and replaced them with top of the line. I got a great price and the cash discount made it even better. Not sure about financing. It’s been a while since I have had to do that (Lockheed stock).

Might just be us. Not one of the models we wanted were available. The prices were ok on opened appliances with some serious gouges, scratches and big dents, but in the same ball park with returned appliances with less issues at any big box store.

They really pushed us to take the appliance yourself, and really didn’t have install anytime soon, making us wonder if there would be an installation. Really worried that there might be serious issues with what was in an unopened box. Felt like I was in a flea market and the product just fell off a truck.

I stuck with a big box, if I am spending $6000 on 3 sets of washer and dryers I want to feel comfortable buying them.

Their delivery and setup are done by their employees. Saved a lot of money.
Final note is to stay away from Samsung. We have had huge issues with their washers in particular.

I’ll buy LG now. They have made it past their initial warranty and are still working! The GE’s only lasted until a week or two after their warranty and GE authorized technicians couldn’t fix them. I’ve had to have my Whirlpool refrigerator fixed twice in order to get the lighting replaced. It’s cost 500 dollars for the light replacements combined. Not happy with that! Remember being able to just be able to screw in a lightbulb in an appliance?

Whirlpool side-by-side refrigerators have 3 LED plug-in circuit board modules that you can buy from Amazon. They just plug in with no tools required. But, I agree that it was easier when they just used regular light bulbs.

Do not even consider a Samsung.
Even if somebody gives you a Samsung for free, get something else. They are really that bad and fail too often.

Refrigerators... Ice makers that leak ice and water. Internal temperatures vary from 39 to 50 when set to 35 (this could be dangerous). Loud. Runs nearly constantly.
Dishwashers... Must always run heavy duty cycle. Racks don't fit normal dishes and bowls. Loud. Trim pieces that flop around. Touch controls that don't respond to being touched.
Microwaves... Just die. Often.
Stove... Poor design. Oven temperature inconsistent.
Washer... Fails to spin without going out of balance. Owner's manual describes functions incorrectly. Unable to clean internal filters without complete disassembly. Plenty of controls that cannot be used to change settings, such as water temperature, on almost all cycles due to computer override.
Dryer... Clothing drys ok only if half empty. Bedding clumps up and requires many cycles of manual rearranging and manual timed cycles because it shuts off with wet clothing. Lint trap lets lint blow by. No way to access internal vent path for cleaning lint without complete disassembly. (yes, vents have been cleaned of lint)

Samsung makes great computer parts, Nice TVs... but run away from their appliances. It's just not worth the headaches, no matter how good of a deal it might appear up front.

Yes, I have had service look at these problems... "Working as designed" or "That's not covered by warranty" or "They don't make parts for that now"

Just bought a GE refrigerator from Costco online while the 27 cu.ft. was on sale. $599 off normal price plus a $200 shop at Costco card. Price included delivery, installation and haul-away the old Samsung. Delivery crew designated by GE were top notch and very careful. Very happy so far.

Best Buy has an outlet in Ocoee, near Orlando. We were told that Tuesday was the best day to shop, as they brought new mdse in on Monday. You have to be careful, as you are picking out the exact machine you will receive. Make sure everything you need for installation is there. We picked out a dishwasher that was missing a couple of things and it couldn’t be installed, and they don’t provide them. We ended up with a nice one, just not the one we picked out. FWIW... When we bought our home last year, of course it didn't come with the washer and dryer. We wanted a gas dryer so our choices were limited. I shopped around at the damaged Applicance store, sorry forgot their name, but no gas there. We'd bought at one in MN and had great luck and server from them. We then did the Lowes, Home Depot and Best Buy route. We ended up at Lowes based on price and availability. We bought Maytag front load washer and a gas dryer. Both showed up on the day the were scheduled without any issues.
We recently bought an extra refrigerator from Best Buy, again after shopping around at Lowes and Home Depot. They had what we wanted at a good price. We took deliver as scheduled but when it arrived the door swing was the wrong way. We asked them to change it as I've done this many times in the past, and they refused because it wasn't on the work order. Called Best Buy and they would not talk to me until a week later they called back. Then told me I had to pay $50 to get the door changed and I've have to come into the store to pay for it. I've shopped Best Buy for well over 30 years, before it was Best Buy.... I've bought many appliances and I have never been treated or talked to this way before. Not sure I'll be giving them any more of my business.

Most of the responses in this thread involve Big Box store brands, which are NOT made like machines used to be made.
Do your homework. Ask a repair person their opinion. Most will say the only really well made machine that actually uses enough water and really cleans clothes is a Speed Queen. They are more expensive, have a 7 year warranty(what does that tell you) but really clean your clothes.

Remember front loaders are deeper than top loaders so depending on your situation if you’re putting them into a closet, the front loaders might not work

My GE fridge had trouble, and the Friday GE stood me up for the second time for service I called Andrew from Sonny's and on Monday he delivered me a brand new replacement refrigerator. It’s not a big part of their business. They started out only selling to laundromats but then people started asking for them so they decided to stock a few. It’s the only brand they carry and only as a convenience. I found them by looking on the Speed Queen website for local dealers.

If you are getting gas dryer, check with your utility company for hookup - it was reasonable like $35. In our area Lowe's was incorrectly installing gas dryers and the gas company was out turning off people's gas.

Setzer’s Appliance has locations in Ocala and Gainesville, and a warehouse in Leesburg. Their staff is well versed in the appliances they carry. We received our washer and dryer the day we moved in. We replaced our refrigerator, range and added a better vent, and put a new microwave in the butlers’ pantry. I would never buy appliances at any big box store. I’ve heard too many horror stories. Speed Queen is made in America. The company is in Ripon, WI. Speed Queen has been in buisness for more than a century and is a division of a company that makes commerical laundry equipment.

I have had mine since 2015 and when we sold our northern house this year and bought another one in the same area, I had the Speed Queen set moved. Very few bells and whistles on the ones I have. They are workhorses. The washer is a top-loader, and although that is not the in thing right now, I like it. It is just a regular top-loader, not the kind with the tub so deep that you feel like you're going to fall in when trying to get the clothes out.

I think Speed Queen is usually sold in Mom & Pop appliance stores, not in big box stores.

I am convinced that a lot of appliance brands now have built-in obsolescence. But Speed Queen seems tougher than the rest.

OP, you might want to take a look at speedqueen.com and see what you think.

I just purchased a pair from Best Buy, and they will be delivered next month - I’ve had poor delivery and customer service issues in the past with both Lowe’s and Home Depot, for unlike Best Buy, they sublet their delivery and installation out to non-store employees. When issues arise, they both fingers at the other, giving you the run-around. With Best Buy, you are still dealing with their own in-house employees for all deliveries and installations.

I too had problems with a washer & dryer install from Home Depot (fall of 2021). The installers left without the appliances connected to electricity, without the dryer vent connected & they had the gall to ask me to give them a good review. To connect to electricity a new electric cable needed to be installed & there was some other minor problem with the vent connection. I suspect if the install is not something an amateur like myself could do ie: plug it in & go, it will not get done by the 'installers'. I vowed to never purchase an appliance from Home Depot again.

Please send suggestions of reliable appliance dealers with fair prices. Also, where NOT to go is always helpful. If possible we'd like a made in USA product.

My son bought a top-loading Samsung Washer that did about $65,000 in damage to a brand-new rental house he has in Texas. B.S. to Samsung. Never again. About 2017.

About 2016 When we moved here I always use Consumer Report as my guide and at that time the Samsung Washer & Dryer that I purchased from HD were rated #1. The dryer had a cracked drum at 5 years and 1 month. Nobody at Samsung gave a rat's Azz. I had a service contract that was finished at 5 years. So I'm finished with Samsung. It could be free from them. They can, well you know! :ohdear:

I'm in the market for a Washer & Dryer again. LG for sure.

LOL. According to the news report, if you have one of these washers, you need a "software update" from the Internet. I hope it doesn't happen to my cheap Hotpoint washer, because I don't think it can be connected to the Internet.

Costco is a no brainer unless you don’t like the selection. They exist to please the customer. Ge, Samsung and LG are sub optimal. The primary concern should be reliability. Sadly the new ones are not the quality of the old ones.

Relative reverse engineered all brands as his job for major manufacturer. Bells and whistles are personal preference. The guts of the machines are basically the same. Maytag has commercial technology line which has been superb.

Yes they will deliver here.
My son bought a king size mattress from Costco online. They came in, set it up and took the old mattress with them.
About a month later their dog peed on the mattress, my son calls Costco told them what happened.
Costco said we'll ship a new one in 3 days; no further questions ask.
