Hi All. Looking for info and recommendations re Trackers. I have iPhone 7S with latest iOS, she has Samsung latest Android. Considering Trackers for golf bags, cart, and also for luggage during travel.
Checked online reviews etc. but all over the map.
Anyone have personal experience with these? Are they worth it. Best ones. Pros/cons. Thx in advance.

Put one in the car to test. Works well but only on Apple products. Going to try tile next.
Might be useful if car gets stolen, valet takes for a ride, airport parking, etc

Had tile prior to air tag release. Tile battery is short lived for us. Was not as accurate as AirTag.
Our Airtag have been on our pets for 17 months still tracking great. We tracked our cat who ran out when we had a visitor.
Yes, you need apple, but we found her between houses 2 blocks away, hiding. The airtag took us to her location, and then we sent a signal that we could hear to find her hiding under a bush. If not for the beeping we may have walked right by her.

What is air tag range. Such as use in a golf cart, and it’s stolen; can it read and ID from miles away? Luggage; if taken or lost at destination, will it track at what range. Golf club bags, same. Looking for real-life experience and use. Thx

I bought the four pack of tags and one of the key fobs. Looks like good quality. They seem to work very well. The beeping function is great if you miss place something nearby. You can also use the Find My feature to look for them if they’re somewhere else. There are some good YouTube videos out there with full reviews. I watched those and found them useful before my purchase.

You have the option of sending an alert to any Apple user. It will ping on the nearest iPhone. Then you are contacted where your Airtag location is, from the community. It works well, with many taking notice of your delemia, and are happy to help

Air tag uses the network of iPhones to track location. I had someone drive my dog from PA to FLA, and I tracked the journey the entire trip.

After walking around the parking lots surrounding one of the squares one night, I invested in AirTags for the car and golf cart. Now it is easy to find our ride home.
So, if you have had enough of walking around a parking lot, holding a fob in the air and clicking till you hear a horn or see a flashing light, this is for you.

For a golf bag, where would you put the air tag? I’m thinking about getting a few of them

I use both and have had Tiles for years. For keys and luggage I use an AirTag. For wallets I use a thin Tile and there are a couple items I use the stick-on Tiles. I have had bad experiences with the traditional Tiles…no sound when ringing, always saying the battery is low, etc. I would use AirTags for everything if they had the same flexibility.

I highly recommend Chipolo over Tile if you are using android devices.
It connects much faster and is more reliable. Also the Tile is more annoying since it goes off in the pocket much easier due to inferior design.
The down side of Chipolo is that the community is smaller so is less likely to be found by another owner if it is lost.
On my keys and wallet I use both.

If you have an Apple icloud account you can log in on any device and locate your Airtag.
You don't need an Apple device to use an Airtag.

I have both Tiles and AirTags. I have them on keys, my car, golf cart and other items that I don’t want to lose. Some people put them on pets. My neighbor borrowed my cart a few weeks ago. I purposely did not ask his destination. About an hour later, ai checked and found that exact spot his family parked at the Polo Grounds. I waited a couple hours and the tag pinged enough that I could open the garage door for him when he was close. . I still use my Tiles but have less faith in them due to fewer people having the Tile App open v. People using iOS devices.
Amazon has several inexpensive holders for them.

Update. I’m the OP.
Bought a pack of four Airtags and holders on Amazon. One for my wife’s luggage. Ok, she flew from MCO to Seattle last night. I put one airtag in her luggage to check the operation.
Well her flight was delayed over an hour due to malfunctioning toilet on the 737. I checked the airtag location on her trip. She took Groome and I tracked it to MCO.
After the flight I saw it at SeaTac airport in a specific gate area. No doubt at a holding area because she missed her connection and they put her up at a hotel for the next flight later this morning.
So the Tracker works! I can locate where her luggage is, safety measure if taken…
The other three are in golf cart and each of our golf bags.
Bottom line, great so far

We use AirTags and we are all Apple. It is excellent. I see there is a Tracker Detect app on Google play that allows you to use AirTags from your Android.

That is not an easy question. If there are other Apple products "near by" it can find your tag anywhere in the world. It uses Apple's "Find My" network which is unique.
People are putting them in their checked baggage so they can know where their bag is if the airline "loses" it.
