Sorry if this was discussed here before, I did a search without finding anything.
I would like to add a sliding garage door screen, not the power rollup kind.
Who installs them around our area?
What brand works the best without getting hung-up?
Are some with rollers top and bottom for easy closing?
You reply would be much appreciated.
Thank You

Anyone else have slider screens on their garage that can give me some advice? Yes, there are multiple discussions on this topic and you can be sure you will get 500 responses telling you to get a rollup because :blahblahblah: :blahblahblah: :blahblahblah: just like gas vs. electric golf carts. In any case, what kind of advice are you looking for before all the "slider abuse" begins here?? :D
We chose a slider over the rool-up type mainly because we go in and out of our house multiple times duriing the day through the garage and just sliding 1 panel 2 feet over was a lot easier than waiting for a 16' wide screen to roll all the way up and then back down just to take out the garbage or talk to a neighbor. When we drive out we slide it half way then close the garage door and when we return it's already opened for us to drive back in. There are no motors to have to deal with to go bad and no remotes to lose. Ours "hangs" (slides) from the top track so any dirt in the bottom track is no problem because there are no bottom wheels to get jammed. We clean out the track every 6 months or so with a leaf blower.
We've had it 5 years with zero problems and are still satisfied over our choice. YMMV of course.
We got our from Michele's Hideaway Screens Sliding Garage Screen Doors | Michele's Hide-Away Screens (https://www.micheleshideawayscreens.com/products/4-track-slider-screens.html)

We have a power rollup screen now and we also going in and out offend because
there so no service door attached to our garage.
If we get 2 1/2 to 3 years out of a $1000 motor w/tax and install, we are lucky.
BTW...... Micheleshindawayscreens are coming next week for a quote.

We just installed sliders in October or November. We have a stretched garage with an 18' door that was being quoted way over our comfort zone on motorized screens.
We got prices for Sliders and it was very reasonable. The guy who did ours was named Rodney and he lives near Spanish Springs in the The Villages.
We like the sliders. We can pop in and out of the garage without opening the whole garage up. We live South of 44 and the bugs can be bad. In fact, the Sumter Bug Truck just came through the neighborhood spraying (in February, mind you). We can go in and out quickly and keep bugs at bay.
In short, we don't regret our decision.

Love ours. If we are home the garage door stays up all day. Mine have rollers on the bottom which is an easy replacement if one freezes up. It’s been almost six years and don’t recall who installed them. Pretty sure I am extending the life expectancy of the garage door opener

We used Michelles in Ocala. My original one of 15 years, the rollers on the bottom, even though replaced several times, were a mess. We invested 18 months ago a new one, wheels on the top so they dont get all the dirt etc… Great job, we love it, reasonable. I think it was like 1200 bucks…. +1 (352) 236-8869.

Someone came to my house a couple of nights ago and slid my screens open about a foot away from the wall. Was that you? Never happened before and they don’t move easily, so it wasn’t the wind.

The first thing I did when we bought a house in Rio Ponderosa was to put the sliding screen doors away. I think they are a pain to use.

Our slider is 19 yrs old. The only maintenance was to replace the rollers on the bottom. Now it is time to rescreen. It is a good choice for the reasons posted.

I have two homes, one with the roll up, and one slider. We love the roll up. The slider was damaged when we bought the home last March. The screens were stacked in the garage. The bottom track is destroyed. It's noisy and unsettling to drive over. I had planned on removing the whole thing.
But having read the positive comments here, maybe I'll repair it.

We just had Micheleshindawayscreens replace ours, very professional and did nice work. The advantage to their system is the rollers are on the top of the door instead of wheels on the bottom, the doors always slide easy. Bottom ones have to contend with the debris in the tracks and they wear out faster from the weight of the doors.

I used Cook Aluminum LLC ("Thumpers") about two years ago for my sliding garage door screen. Very pleased with the product and installation. Thumpers also has a proprietary motorized screen.

My house has sliders. The bad thing about sliders is that you have to slide them by hand instead of just pushing a button. The good thing is that unlike the rolling kind, lizards and mice and snakes can’t get into your garage if the doors are closed. Eleven months a year, I don’t close the garage door unless I’m not home. If I’m home, I use the sliders. Don’t lubricate them! That just grabs dust. If they aren’t sliding well, just vacuum the tracks with a shop vac or regular vacuum cleaner. I do that a couple times a year.

Make sure your deed allows sliders Say what? That's a new one. Never heard of a specific slider INclusion or EXclusion. Where is that here in TV? Maybe if you used a pink striped screen there would be a problem? :)

Have my sliders for 20 years. There are many companies in and around The Villages that install them. Just google on the internet. Only problem due to my carelessness I backed thru a couple of them over the years so I have the phone number on my speed dial of the fellow who comes and repairs them for me. LOL

ProTip :) : NEVER turn your steering wheel while your front wheel(s) is on the bottom track of a slider. That's how they get badly bent.

Hi, what are you going to do with your sliders?
I'm in need of a white 37".

I bought a second hand one for $200 and had it installed for $100 by a handyman. The garage door companies will tell you that they are better for the power train on your garage door than the motorized screen doors. There are manual ones that lift lift your garage door would do without a motor, plus they are very lightweight. Had I to do it again I would opt for that style. They have a door in the center for easy entrance and exit. They sell them at Markets of Marion and I’m sure that they have an installer. Hope that helps.
