I have seen other coverings. Drapes work well too. Lowes or HD can give you ideas.

We have vertical blinds that open the same way the sliders do, in our case from the center.

Yes we put shutters over our sliders when we put shutters on all our windows. Love them. They are split so you can open just the bottom or top or just some of them depending on the sun. They also work as an insulator.

There are two different kinds of plantation shutters for sliders. There is the fold away type and sliding type. Pretty sure on the sliding type the shutters have to be closed in order to slide it open

I put them on my sliding glass doors and they make a dramatic focal point open or closed. They are easy to clean. Also, when closed they provide privacy. When open, lots of light. Mine are made by Norman shutters and blinds. Great quality for the money. $1300.00

Yes I had shutter doors put on two sliders by ‘Blinds for Less’ and they look great. Easy to open and keep sun out.

I had Averte Natural fold blinds installed. They open to the right, to the left, or in the middle. I love the look.

We have Hunter-Douglas Luminettes on our sliders. They are elegant, yet functional as they provide privacy and light at the same time.

check out the Marion Flea Market...there's a fellow that sells design applications that can be applied to bathroom tub sliders, regular sliders and glass doors...that's what we put on a full panel glass door...it's frosted with a palm tree design on it....easy to install

We have a few plantation shutters in the house, but not on any of the sliders....we have a vertical blind that we close when we want privacy.....I'm curious how plantation shutters could be installed on a slider, unless they were a separate slider on a parallel track

we put up BY-Pass shutters on bedroom slider. You can open, close, etc without having to close the slats. about $1200. Love them.

I have platoon shutter doors for our lanai doors to the pool. My neighbor also has them. Call Scott (843) 290-6065 if you need them.

depends what you want them for. Shade? I went with window film, for privacy and it also, protects the uv light. Verticals do fine, and some add a Valence over the top, which is lovely... You want to be able to look out your windows and see the view. The Plantation Shutters are mostly for Hurricanes high winds. We are NOT in a high risk area for that.

Go for Plantation Shutters if you want a permanent reduction of natural light in your house because even with them fully open they restrict some degree of natural light. The same goes for any drapes/curtain solutions. However, go for a fully retractable roller solution if you'd like to occasionally experience full-on natural light in the room. The choice is as simple as that.

The plantation shutters on the interior of our sliders have nothing to do with high winds. They are for privacy and to block the light.

Like pretty much everyone who has commented on this thread, we LOVE ours. We ordered them through Shutter Professionals in the early months of the pandemic and it took a long time to get them. I assume it wouldn't take as long at this point. The quality is excellent.

Ours slide back and forth. We can slide them regardless of whether the slats are open or closed. The frame around the door stands out a ways from the wall (maybe 6" or so?) in order to allow for this. If anyone wants to see a picture or two, let me know.

I just put plantation shutters on all the windows in my house. (The installer said I just increased the value of my home by 10k — more sales pitch?) Anyway, I didn’t like the way shutters would block half the view of my sliders so I went with a motorized blind that mimics the look of the shutters. They can be opened completely or adjusted for a partial appearance just like the shutters in the room, but the slider is never fully blocked limiting my view to the outside.

I use a four panel slider system from Ikea. When I change my paint color I change the fabric on the panels.

Yes, Joy Blinds is local. They are affiliated with a local flooring company.
We love our blinds. Rooms are darker when closed. Installation was perfect. Long wait for supplies though.

We have electric blinds. We only close them at night or if we are going away for an extended period.

I put plantation shutters on 3 large sliders and would never put them on sliders again. They must be closed to slide them open so if you have an 8’ wide slider, and the shutters are 2’ wide, 2 ‘ of your slider will always be closed. Also ours didn’t have anything to hold them in place at the bottom so they kind of wiggle at the bottom. Plantation shutters in windows are great, I have them, but sliders NEVER! They just don’t work like you think they will… hope you can find something else.

Yours seem to be a different style than ours. We do not have these issues.
