We are leaving for a 9 day cruise on Oct. 20 out of Port Everglades. Does anyone know of any private transportation who will take and bring us back door-to-door? Of course, also interested in the price.

Compare any price to parking your car there. 9 day cruise might be more but we figure any 4-5 day cruises we will just drive in and park.

Good Luck. Port is +/- 250 miles away and depending on traffic 4.5- 6.0 hours away. Might try to fly from Orlando to Ft. Lauderdale($61 per person each way) and airport is near the port. Do not know of any services but suspect that private car/Uber will be very expensive.

You might want to post on your sailing's "roll call" thread on CruiseCritic [dot] com and ask if anyone from The Villages will be sailing on your cruise. If so, maybe you could do a ride-share thing with them.

Good luck.

We always drive down the day before and stay at a hotel and then park at the Park N Go near the port. They have dedicated shuttle buses for each ship leaving that day and pick up right at the port. We like to go a day early and start our vacation early.:). You could always rent a car each way also.

Be careful. I had a car breakdown in Fruitland Park and a cab cost me 275 dollars just to get to Altamonte Springs.

We have cruised from Ft. Lauderdale many times.

This doesn’t answer the question you asked, but just gives two other options. We have stayed at the Cambria Suites in Dania Beach the night before cruises. They have a shuttle to and from the cruise port and free parking for your car while you are gone. We have done this when we were on a 15 day cruise a couple of times. Cambria Hotel & Suites Ft Lauderdale Airport South & Cruise Port FL FLL Airport - Park Sleep Hotels (https://www.parksleephotels.com/Cambria-Hotel-Suites-Ft-Lauderdale-Airport-South-Cruise-Port-FLL-1248.html#room_type_rate)

We have also just parked at the cruise port for $20 a day many times at Ft. Lauderdale and Miami. I don’t know if that is still the fee or if it has gone up.

The suggestion to check out the Roll Call for your cruise on Cruise Critic is an excellent one. Since moving to The Villages, we have only been on one cruise where we haven’t met someone from here and that was a Baltic cruise and we have been on over 20 cruises just since we moved here.

Have a great cruise!

Rental car one way to or from Fort Lauderdale is expensive. Might as well just drive to the port and park at the port. We have parked at Port Everglades at the convention center parking garage which is near terminal 2 and 4 many times. Princess uses terminal 2 for their large ships. Cost has been $15 per night and it is off the ship, in the car and home in 4 to 4 1/2 hours. There are hotels that allow you to stay one night and leave your car at the hotel for the duration of the cruise by using their stay and fly/cruise rate. Some of the hotels charge a nominal fee for every night over 7 nights. You have to search for the stay and fly packages.

If you were a Member of the Unique Travel Club you could fly out of Leesburg Airport which is minutes away from The Villages. The flight would be direct and take about an hour and fifteen minutes.

Port Everglades is close to Fort Lauderdale airport and take a taxi or Uber to ship should not be bad. It’s 4 hr drive down if you drive and park vary where you chose. Do your search. There AAA or AARP discounts at different parking places. SW goes into Ft Lauderdale and has cheap flights. Watch for their sales you can always change if price change too. You would pick later morning flight or afternoon coming home.

Call Paul Preuit at 352-531-6591or text him. Email Narralimo@aol.com. He has five new cars and responsible drivers. They will pick you up on time at your house and drive you to any airport or dock you want. Very trustworthy. He drove me to Sanford airport a couple days ago, and it was great.

He will also drive cars north and fly home. DC? Philadelphia? New York? Boston? Much cheaper than using the Auto-Train. I was amazed. Save his name and number. Usually for airport runs, it’s good to make a reservation for a ride. I arranged a ride a day in advance, but that was a fluke.

We will usually drive down and stay at a hotel the night before so we aren’t rushed the next day and the hotel offers free parking up to 10 days with the overnight stay.

Yankee Trails offered bus transportation, used to charge $90 R/T p/p and you did not have to book the cruise with them. 352-633-4643. An option if you could not locate private transportation. Usually only 2 to 4 pickup locations, rest stop and ports at Lauderdale and Miami.

Buyer Beware: When hiring a private service as some suggested, MAKE SURE they are permitted for that cruise port. Yes, they are legal to drop you off "BUT", if they aren't permitted for that port on your pick up, that driver will be fined and vehicle impounded as an illegal service. That brings into play then, their private auto insurance is not for commercial use, so if something heaven forbid was to happen on your ride, YOU ARE NOT COVERED!

So if that private car gets impounded upon your return by using an illegal service not permitted, now how do you get home? Think everyone, using an illegal service has consequences you may not be considering for your safety and welfare.

Boy, that would be nice! Aren't those clubs expensive? Is it similar to a timeshare, or is it that point system thing?
I can't tell you how many times I've needed to just fly into leesburg.....I live in historic and can't do that drive from ny, and flying mco or sfb is always a hassle. Oh well.

I always drive down the night before and stay at a hotel. They also provide a shuttle to
the pier. I leave the car at the hotel for the 10 days. But now that I bought a new car,
I will probably just drive to the pier, and park there in a covered garage. I feel the car will be safer there, more expensive, but worth it.

Remember this.
All car services like restaurants and other industries, are still boogered up as a result of COVID.
For instance, Uber wanted $46 one way to go from SS to Lake Sumter,
I said.. screw you... I will walk!!
I used Uber over the summer, $19 one way to go pick up my new truck.

Best bet. Rent a car, round trip. May even be cheaper to park the rental at any of the many hotels who want to rent out parking spots left and right to catch up for lost business. I rented a spot for a week for $29.60 at the Renaissance near Orlando last month.
Take a look.

Remember this.... that old expression..."A free lunch"
Democrats ate that years ago, now it is all pay pay pay.

drive your car, leave it at the 'Park and Fly' lot...you'll get a bus ride over and back.

we did this for years when we lived in Ft Lauderdale and flew back and forth to Boston often

or, rent a car and pay the one way drop off fee and do the same for the return

Not sure why you reeceived so much fort lauderdale info but port everglades is a 90 minute drive.
go to Park Port Canaveral-$9.85 per day with promo code (http://www.parkportcanaveral.com) and you can make a reservation and they will shuttle you to any ship you need.

Park and fly. . I live 7 miles from the port and as not to bother anyone, we would park here. They bringing you to your ship for less than ten dollars a day. Well worth it. Nice to deal with. Make reservations on their site. You can't go wrong.

Used the word ALL airports and terminals. Hate to use the work assume but are you referring to ALL airports and terminals in Florida? Is $250 for the trip or the person?

Ron, sure hope you have commercial insurance and port permits. If you get caught w/o permits, it's a $500. fine and impound of the vehicle and that port definitely checks for permits, I'm sure your clients would be happy campers then figuring out on how to get home, lol!

We rent a Hertz car and then drop it off at the Crown Plaza Hotel Hertz counter. From the hotel, we take their free shuttle to the Port which is 5 minutes away.

Once we are back, the shuttle takes us back to the hotel and we pick up another rental and we return the car back to the Hertz counter in Spanish Springs.

The shuttles run continuously so there is not a long wait.

Good information but I can't imagine how this is more convenient or less expensive than driving your car and using Park and Go unless it is a cruise of 15 days or more. The Park and Go bill is about $10 per day and they have a shuttle to/from the port.

The Park and Go bill is about $10 per day and they have a shuttle to/from the port. Pre-Covid, we did 15 to 30 day cruises and we felt this option worked for us. Also, we knew our car was safe in our garage. It's nice to have options....drive your own car, rent a car, bus, private transportation, etc.
