River rock driveway

My driveway is showing signs of neglect and I am asking for any advice regarding fixing it up.

I have a pressure washer and I am comfortable resealing the rock but the edge near the roadway has some chips. I also found a small piece that broke free near the garage that needs re-epoxying.

Is there a source to buy the rocks that would match or do I need to hire an installing contractor to fix the edge?

My wife likes the grip the surface provides but I’d like it to look better.

In the north river rock drives, and garages were not as common as textured drives. We have looked at about 15 to 20 preowned home with river rock drives. Sadly OP Matt who was a kind and fair man did the best river rock, passed away. However I have heard that his son who worked along with Matt, may be doing installs

You need to check. I doubt it is two part epoxy as epoxy is first of all quite expensive, you will use a lot of it to coat a driveway and it yellows. May be a two part polyurethane.

Usually they use cobble stones or cement blocks to keep your tires on the drive. If, you drive onto the edge it will very likely crack the edges. Matching? What you have has old resin on it. New stuff will look new.

Likely a job better done by a SKILLED professional.

itsounds like' chattahoochee', an occasionally applied covering/coat ing to/on concrete, most epoxies are 2 part resin & catalyst some are 3 part eg poly sulfidesusually a 2 part water based epoxy is mixed w/graded riverrock then troweled onto the primed concrete surface a surface coating of the same wtr-bas'd epoxy's then rolled onto the surface to seal it, single partwtr bas-d urethane works better impo -yours may be experiencing delamination in areas- not uncommon-visuallyacceptable repairs iffy w/o matching aggregate. you might get lucky & find an acceptable bag at either apron store- another reason epoxies are not recomended for exerior use. sadly -too late for yours sher wms has uv resistant to yellowing aforementioned urethane has acceptable
aggregate' driveways are correctly defined 'exposed aggregate' -a surface retarder is applied to the concrete after final finishing then, 'later'cement paste is pressure washed awayexposing the concrete's aggregate another method is broadcasting aggregate onto the surface &, using a bull float &embedding it into the fresh conc afterit has taken its 'initial set'no one can define later' as it depends on the desired aggregate exposure( mild or extreme)- then again no one can define when concrete is finished curing.the only 1 i know who can help you is me, there of coursetheremay be others but i don't know them my observation' is most are 'driveway painters,' not concrete artisans.

River rock driveways need to be resealed every year because the sun can break down the epoxy. That could be the reason for the deterioration.

All the river rock driveways we’ve seen have chips near the street so we have decided to check into pouring an exposed aggregate one instead. We don’t have any estimates yet.

exactly the reason this method/mtl needs resealing - epoxies do deteriorate due to uv hence the mention of uv resistant urethane.

I have been researching how to seal my river rock patio. In order to do a long lasting job the surface of the rock must be in the 70’s and use a two part epoxy resin. Cost is in the neighborhood of $150 per 1 1/2 gallon. I bought mine off a web site epoxyproducts.com. I think the guy is a one man operation out of New Hampshire but he is very knowledgeable about epoxies. 1 1/2 gallon will cover about 200 square feet.
