I’m hoping someone can tell me what I’m doing wrong!
No matter what I do, I’m not able to set the ac below 68*
We just moved to a pre-owned gardenia model and for sleeping hours we like 65* or lower. We actually are used to very cold weather and just want it cooler during sleep.
Maybe its not possible????
Thank you

Have you tried changing the mode setting? The modes are "heat" "cool" and "heat + cool". In the heat + cool mode, the heat and cool temperature settings must be at least 4 degrees apart.

Save yourself some money, and turn on the ceiling fan in the down mode on medium or high, and you will not need to have such a low temperature.

We had the same problem. Call the company. We were “missing” a piece in our system. We would have to set our thermostat on 80 if we wanted to be at 78! Best thing to do is call, something is wrong somewhere

There’s a reason thermostats have limits on high and low temp settings. But hey, if you are able to configure yours to run at a lower than the factory setting, go for it. Just be aware that you might possibly cause damage to it’s compressor and other parts.

Why can’t he just “call” the company like we did? We had a problem with the thermostat too and they fixed it. I personally don’t like a ceiling fan on when I am sleeping, it bothers my allergies. Some people can have it on some can’t. I responded to him as well, we have the same model and problem and we called and they fixed it. We had to put our thermostat on 80 if we wanted it to be 78. All fixed

If it looks like this
Performance Edge Programmable Thermostat - TP-PRH01-B | Carrier - Home Comfort (https://www.carrier.com/residential/en/us/products/thermostats/traditional-thermostats/tp-prh01-b/)
Then they don't want you to be able to change it. I have wanted to change my minimum setting to 65 deg so I may try and research how to do it.
Set Thermidistat Control Configuration
Configuration options enable the installer to configure the Thermidistat Control for
a particular installation. Most are not presented to the homeowner and therefore
must be properly set by the installer. (Only those marked with an asterisk * below
are available to the homeowner.) The homeowner configurations are described in
the owner’s manual. A special procedure allows entry into the configuration mode.
Selections can be made while in configuration mode. Description of each selection
and how to use the configuration mode follows.

Completely agree. It's amazing how cooling one fan can be and no need to cool the entire house while you sleep.

Do it at your own risk.
TO ENTER CONFIGURATION MODE
Press and hold FAN button for approximately 10 sec. The Display Module is now in
configuration mode. It will automatically exit this mode if no button is pressed for 3
minutes. Pressing the DONE button will exit configuration mode immediately.
WHILE IN CONFIGURATION MODE
The option number is displayed in the heat setpoint location and the configuration
setting is displayed in the cool setpoint location. On the TP--PRH--A, --B
(programmable) model, a box will surround the option number. The mode button is
used to move the box between the two displayed values. The soft keys below the
listed values may also be used to move the box between selected values. The value
inside the box is changed by using the UP/DOWN buttons. On the TP--NRH--A, --B
(non--programmable) model, one of the values will be flashing. The mode button is
used to change which value is flashing or the Home and Sleep buttons may also be
used to select which value to flash. The value that is flashing is changed by using
the UP/DOWN buttons. All changes made are saved at the time of selection and
will be saved in the event of the 3 minute time--out or when installer exits from
configuration menu.

It is set that way. When we moved into our new home they came out to adjust the thermostat for us. I wanted it lower and my husband wanted it higher for the lowest setting. It’s set at 68 and won’t allow me to set it lower. It is doable you just need to go into the main controls and set your lowest setting lower. I agree I like it colder at night.

Have you tried getting a manual?
Call Sunshine for service and they will go over all functions with you.

Best Temperature to Sleep: Research and Sleep Tips (https://www.healthline.com/health/sleep/best-temperature-to-sleep)
Being in a comfortable environment is essential for healthy sleep. Keeping your sleeping quarters at a temperature near 65°F (18.3°C), give or take a few degrees, is ideal.
Your body’s temperature decreases during sleep, and a cool, but not cold, room will help you settle into and maintain sleep throughout the night.
A mini split for the room could be a solution too.

Some AC companies put a lock on the thermostat so it won’t go below 68. We bought a new home in Fenney in 2017 and that happened to us. When I called Sun Kool they told us they do that so the ax won’t freeze. I told them to come out and undo it which they did and then I heard a spiel about the warranty not being good if something happens when I set it below 68. That’s bogus. Anyway you most likely will need an ac person to come out and unlock it unless you can find how to do it on you tube. You can find everything there.

From reading some of your previous posts, I assume that you were mixing humor with common sense. Amazing how many people took you so seriously.

As a retired commercial plumbing and heating contractor, you are correct. Most of the time they are trying to scare you so they wont have to fix or adjust something, falsely claiming "it will void the warranty".

He sounded serious to me. This is what they had to do before AC. I never do this cause it gives me a sore throat in the morning.

For the next 10 days evening temperatures forecast are between 45 to 55 just open the widows
Running a fan in the bedroom all night can cause dry eye syndrome, per my eye doctor.

Is there a reference that lists all the settings in the Configuration mode? I am not able to find one on the Carrier website.

Rather than speculate, take the advice of people you don't know, or trying to hack your thermostat, why not give a professional a call and get some advice?
I've used Mike Labanz of Good Guys Air Conditioning and Heating.
He is super professional and as honest as the day is long.
