National Hot Dog Day 2017: Places to Get Free Hot Dogs | Money (http://time.com/money/4861476/national-hot-dog-day-2017-free-places/)

I just usually buy hot dogs at Publix, Walmart, or Winn Dixie but am wondering what is the best hot dog in the Villages? Had one at the Polo Grounds during a polo game that was great!

It used to be the vendor outside Home Depot. I haven't been there in a while, so I son't know if they are still there.

I like mine grilled. The grandkids expect them to be steamed or boiled.

Sam's are Nathans and the cheapest-no beer

Frankly, I'd mustard a vote for Nathans. I'd relish one right now. Eatons Beach has a whale of a one, definitely a wiener for sure, best on chili days. You never sausage a 'furter. Go to go, I need to ketchup on my spam filter or my mom, the sour Kraut, will make mincemeat out of me, right when I'm on a roll......

I saw a sign today that he's on vacation until 7/29.

I know it doesn't count, but....we had Morning Star veggie corn dogs for lunch. It's the best I can do.

The is the best mass produced, reasonably priced hot dog.

Bet on it, it's a sure thing. Lolhttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170719/628599d3469e0398242a9b2dca475139.jpg

I looked at several sites on Google. Most of these come up on the sites I looked at.

We sampled nine hot dog brands you can find at most supermarkets. Save for the Oscar Mayer classics, we opted for all-beef dogs. Our selection:
• Nathan’s Famous Skinless Beef Franks
• Oscar Mayer Classic Wieners
• Hebrew National Beef Franks
• Hebrew National 97% Fat Free Beef Franks
• Sabrett Skinless Beef Frankfurters
• Ball Park Beef Franks
• Boar’s Head Beef Frankfurters with Natural Casing
• Applegate The Great Organic Uncured Beef Hot Dog
• Just FreshDirect 100% Grass-Fed Organic Uncured Beef Hot Dogs

The Publix brand markets natural casing beef franks that are respectable.

The key to a good hot dog is the lips to ears ratio.

In Chicago they truly have no taste buds.

The vendor at Home Depot told me he gets hot dogs from Michigan, which has traditionally had the toughest standards in the country for processed meats. Of course, that appeals to me as I originally hail from Michigan and I did find when I moved out of state that the local hot dogs just didn't come close to what I was used to. Whatever brand they are, they are a decent dog. True, they are no Koegel's Vienna with Natural Casings (the best of the best in Michigan-based hot dogs, IMHO) and they really should be grilled, but for down here in the Sunshine State, they ain't half bad. But I guess it's like anything else - whatever you grew up with is what tastes best for you.

To give you an idea how crazy Michiganders are about their Koegel's hot dogs, Koegel's sends down trucks twice a year to tour the south and sell hot dogs, bologna and other processed meats of their (and Coney sauce for the dogs) and us Michigan transplants line up to buy everything they have.

Another vote for the TP hot dog cart across 466 from Laurel Manor rec center. He uses Sabrett's and his dogs make me think of street vendors in NYC.

I think Zweigle's (red or white hots, pop-open, natural casings) are the best. Only made on the grill. I order them from Rochester to be flown in.

The best hour dog I've had here so far is from the vendor at LSL on some of the entertainment nights. The cart is based out of the movie theater, and it is the closest to a Chicago dog you can get here. Have them steam the bun a little. Load it up (no ketchup of course) and it's a meal.

Ketchup? Vs mustard. Can tell which part of the country your from? At least that what they tell me. I go AC/DC sometimes and put both on hotdog. Now that's blasphemy!!!!

I can smuggle some Chicago-style hot dogs to TV when I start my visit on Sept. 1. Place your orders now! :) The only item I leave off my hot dog are the sport peppers! Ketchup is verboten. :mmmm:

Kayem all beef natural casing sometimes available at Publix but not often enough. Also Ball Park Prime all beef now sold at Sam's were good on the 4th of July.
