We just used Purple Pig. They sent a very experienced groomer by the name of Clarissa to groom our 2 Bichon. We booked about 2 weeks in advance.
352-753-2202. $50 per dog which is about eh same we pay up north at home in New England. She comes to your house to groom the pups.

Dan at Buffalo Ridge Animal Hospital is an excellent groomer.
You do not have to be a client to have your dog groomed there.
Dan is great with all size dogs, but coincidentally, he breeds and has Yorkies, so he is extremely familiar with the breed.
I always found it convenient to make my next appointment with him, when I picked up my dog after my current appointment.
That way, I was always assured of a convenient appointment, even during snowbird season.

I had the same problem with Wolfgang. I went back to Bone Crazy on 446A almost to Wildwood. I have used them before with good results. The number is 352 330 2663. All of them will be crowded with the snow birds down but they were better than Woolfgang when I called. Good luck

Dan at Buffalo Ridge Animal Hospital would be a groomer I would pick. He seems to be the kind of gentle man that I would have wanted for my Yorkies. I would not be concerned for their care with him.

There is a serious shortage of quality groomers nation wide and this area has been hit hard. The only grooming school locally was located in Orlando and closed a few years ago. Opening a school takes years to acquire the ability to offer financial aide. This isn't just a snowbird issue, I think we need to be prepared to see it get worse in this area.
Best advice I can give is try to book your appointments in advance and no matter where you groom, if you like your groomer let them know. They have so many options for employment and tend to move around.
