We are getting ready to order our golf cart! So excited. We are getting bucket seats but don't know if we should get vinyl or cloth. I would really appreciate some advice on the pros or cons of each.

Vinyl easier to clean, one puncture and you're in trouble. Cloth won't get so hot you burn the back of your thighs. Same kind of choice for your automobile seats.

Our seats are a combo of vinyl with Sunbrella fabric inserts. They are comfortable when it's hot and and after almost two years and 6 thousand miles, still look brand new.... if that helps!

We have marine grade vinyl Ultimate seats. We opted for the bucket/ bench seat so we could carry 3 when necessary (grandkids) and for the 3 arm rests.

Those of you that have vinyl, do the seats get really hot? We love the look of vinyl bucket seats and have really never seen bucket ones made of cloth but are thinking about the heat factor.

How do they do a combination of vinyl and sunbrella? I can't picture what those would look like but sounds like an interesting alternative!

We also have the Ultimate marine grade vinyl seats and love them. Have had them for 3 years and have never had a problem with them getting hot. I wouldn't recommend the white or off white color as they get dirty easy and I found them hard to keep clean. We now have a brownish color with rust color inserts and they never get dirty.

Our seats are an upgraded bench/bucket style. Higher and (individually) cradled back, bucket seats but one piece and no arm rests. The Sunbrella makes it comfortable when you are in shorts and the golf car has been in the sun awhile. Our seats and canopy have the same Sunbrella fabric. |

I was told vinyl because golf carts get wet, and they sure do! Between surprise showers, sprinklers gone awry and wet bathing suits, they take a beating. I never have any trouble. As for heat, I hadn't noticed it, but I carry a towel in my cart basket, and that would handle any of those issues. I think sunbrella would work almost as well.

Since we purchased a slightly used cart, it had a vinyl bench....and yes, vinyl does get hot. Here's the solution if you really want vinyl; my wife went to a garage sale and found some 'colorful' outdoor full seat cushions with a back. Problem solved for us.

It may be specific to me (and hold back on the personal comments) but when I had my cart updated I went to vinyl seats mainly because I believed that the cloth covered set was wearing my shorts/pants thin from slidding out and in the car while playing golf.

Do you think that might wear our shorts thin? ![]() |
