I apparently bought a defective new 2017 Yamaha gas EFI golf cart. At no time did the sales staff indicate it was going to be set at 24 mph when I ordered the cart. It had all of almost 1 mile on it when I drove it away from the Villages Golf Cars Store in Spanish Springs. I kept the "GO" pedal pressed into the metal every time I could on the drive to the far reaches of Village Santiago. A couple of times, I got the speedometer to indicate 20.2 mph. Rest of the time, it vacillated between 19.9 and 20.1. That was in February and now it is July. Just the other day before I finally had to add gas to the tank (no little pills needed), only me in the cart and going full-GO on a slight down-hill stretch of the MMP along-side San Marino Dr, it actually indicated 22.0 for about 25 feet and then dropped back to the 19.9 to 20.2 range. It doesn't bother me in the least if someone goes faster than me in another golf cart - I just imagine them someday standing in front of that judge trying to use "but THEY set it to go faster" as an excuse.

If you know the secret handshake...they'll set it to go 24 mph.

If you know the handshake AND the special password, they'll not only set it for 38 mph...but sign you up on TOTV with a user name to brag about it.

I purchased taller tires for my EZGO golf cart (came stock with 18" tires... I went up to 215/50-12 or 20.5" tires). Increased my top speed about 2mph. Lost 2-3% of my low end torque.. but it's not too noticeable.

Also got some red "personality plug cables" off Amazon the are supposed to increased my cart's top speed. Not sure I notice a huge difference but they were only $12 or $13.

The wheels and tires made a nice difference in speed though.

I was told by The Villages Golf Cart dealer at Colony that the Yamaha electric carts would not go faster than 20 mph even with the larger tires. However.....the EZ Go carts would go 2mph faster with the larger tires. I still don't understand why that is.

The reason I decided on the Yamaha electric cart rather than the EZ Go is because Yamaha offered the self canceling directionals and high beams on an upgraded steering wheel and that was not available on the EZ Go. I also wanted a one piece windshield as I don't play golf and that was not available on the EZ Go. I decided to go with 2mph less to have those other options that were more important to me.

a alltrax xct 48300 controller will take a club car excel to 23 mph and give it gobs of low end torque without changing anything else

In one of the way too many opinions it was posted there is a golf cart SAFETY PANEL the third weds of every month at Savanna Center. I would of course confirm my post and details-time and room.

It makes far more sense to ask the people WHO KNOW then your neighbors.

That's because the clowns driving at 50 are in the far left lane
