I rode in one and quickly concluded they are not for me for two reasons, not even considering the gas versus electric debate. First, at 6’1” tall and 195 lbs., I felt claustrophobic inside the tiny cockpit. Second, I felt like it cheated the passengers out of the true golf cart open air experience. If I want features offered in a car, I’ll drive a car, I’m not looking for that experience in a golf cart. And besides, how could I do the man spread and hang my knee out of the cart with that friggin door getting in the way? That being said, I’m seeing more and more of them as time passes, so they obviously fit the needs/desires of some Villagers.

Sold our electric cart and replaced it with an atomic cart. We do not play golf, so having doors is an advantage for us. Has heat and ac and makes much more sense in rain or bad weather. The cost of a regular golf cart has gotten so high that it made sense to replace it with the atomic cart. The lithium batteries weight less than traditional batteries, so less tonnage. Love it. Drawbacks, the radio sucks.

If you love China and approve of their communist government, then by all means buy one.

What is the most you’ve actually driven on a charge, and at what percent of charge was left? I’ve only driven to just under 50% and that was low 40’s miles. On mine the A/C reduces mileage by about 30/40%. This is the first post I’ve seen that actually had some good info. Now if we could keep the hater’s away. Not quite as bad as the gas vs electric posts though.

OP, post #3 where Atomic Cool Kartz Owners hookup on Facebook seems to be good advice to get answers for potential Atomic owners. One of my regular golfing buddies has one and loves it. To each their own. Good luck.

Also look into Wink carts (Wink Motors.com) May be less expensive than Atomic.

Buying a golf cart is a "major purchase", not an incidental like a cellphone or laptop. There is enough golf cart competition around here to get something made in the U.S.A. or Japan without relying on something possibly made with forced labor. |

Really? Most of the cr*p you buy comes from China, including most of your meds.

Thanks for the reply, almost the same as mine. If I keep it at 22 mph I can get 1 for 1 without A/C. What’s the lowest % you have gone? Rob said to watch the voltage also and not to get it down to the mid 50’s. I’ve never been below 64v.

We switched to the lithium-powered Kool Kart when we moved here full-time. With the ac, the range is maybe 60 miles. We live about a mile west of Buena Vista off Rainey Trail. Round trip to Spanish springs is 14 miles, takes 25% of the charge, and is about a 20 minute one-way trip. Round trip to Lake Sumter is almost exactly half of that.
Brownwood is doable, but the path route takes almost an hour even though it’s closer than the other 2 squares. Street legal cuts 20-25 minutes off the trip. If you are one who likes going from one end of the villages to the other via cart paths, it’s probably better to stick with gas. Also, with the Kool Kart, we’ve experienced a lot of stink-eye and occasional nasty comments from people, but that really doesn’t matter to me. I’d guess that 95% of the carts that people see are Yamahas or Club Cars, and the the Kool Karts do look like smart cars, so double takes are to be expected. |

LSV's are legally restricted to 25 MPH, but we know how that goes. I have seen non-LSV Atomic carts doing over 30 on the MMP's.

What about the Yamaha’s with the governor turned up that go that fast? Oh by the way, do you own a radar gun?
