Cloned Gate Cards still work!
I just had a new cloned gate card installed on my new car and it works well in all the gates I have tried. As mentioned in previous posts, it would be difficult for the developer to make the cloned cards not work (since they are exact copies of the originals).
I had mine done by "The Village Blacksmith" for $35. Ellie Yifrach was professional and ensured that it would work. If you are considering getting this done, I highly recommend Ellie. His contact number is: 352-530-5984. |

Everyone has the right to their own opinion on this subject of cloned gate cards. I have personally cloned my own card and installed them in both my and my brother’s cars several years ago. He owns a house up the street from me in the Villages.
For me, it’s a convenience and safety issue that I enjoy. I don’t need to look for the ISSUED card nor look for the window control to thus have both eyes on the gate and on the wheel the whole time. For those that question the use of a device that opens the gates with little to no effort, you should try it and or ride with someone that uses it. I will never go back to the old way. And I would say to District staff that tells me that their expectation is that cloned cards will not work in the future. I hope you are wrong. P.S. My cloned cards still work at all gates. |

It is not hard to wave your card or press a button. If it is raining one can go through the visitors gate and the attendant will open the gate for you. If The Villages installs a more passive system I would certainly use it. In the meantime, I will save $35.00 and just use my card.

It is usually a round plastic disc that is attached to the outside mirror with an adhesive, not a magnet.

It's clear that many people have, and prefer to use, a gate opener card in their mirror.
These gates are blocking PUBLIC roads. We, the owners here, are the ones who pay for everything here. That includes the management staff and all the infrastructure. Management needs to remember that they work for us. Heavy handed actions against us are not appreciated or acceptable. |

I don't mind spending big bucks on items that I use every day. I believe that my cost per gate opening is now down to around 2 cents and lowering each time I use the cloned chip to open the gate.
Another thread from this year on the chips. Wanted gate chip |

We didn't pay $35. Ours was much less expensive. Also, it's well known that many of the gates do not have a gatekeeper. Most of the ones we use every day have no gatekeeper. The gates we use every day will not read the card from inside the car window. I enjoy not getting my arm wet in the Florida downpours.

Nah, a reader/writer is about 10 bucks.
